MARCO SILVA is expected to be sacked within hours with David Moyes poised to replace him.
SunSport understands that Everton are preparing to announce the end of Silva’s 18-month reign by the end of Monday with the club in deep trouble.
Majority shareholder Farshad Moshiri has accelerated the process by which the Portuguese will be sacked.
It had been expected that Silva would be sent packing later in the week.
But it is now believed that he will get his marching orders some time on Monday.
David Unsworth, boss of the Under-23s and a previous caretaker manager, is thought to have been told to take first-team training with his own charges told to take the day off.
Moyes spent 11 seasons at Goodison and led the club into the Champions League qualifiers.
His dream move to Manchester United ended in the sack ten months later.
His last job was at West Ham where he left in 2018 having taken over with the club in the bottom three and finishing 13th.
The Scot has turned down a long list of jobs since, the latest of which was at Stoke before the recent appointment of Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill.
It is understood he has the backing of chairman Bill Kenwright who he still has a warm relationship with.
Moyes is expected to be given a contract until the end of the season with an option to extend for at least a further two years.
He will have a tough job on. Everton’s nightmare 2-0 home defeat to Norwich on Saturday left the Toffees only four points above the drop zone.
