Scott McTominay reveals clear-the-air dressing room talks improved Man Utd results under Solskjaer

MANCHESTER UNITED’S misfiring superstars held frank talks in a bid to turn around their awful start to the season, Scott McTominay has revealed.

After going on a run of just one Premier League win in eight games between August and October, United have improved their form tremendously in the last few weeks.

The Red Devils have picked up five victories from their last six fixtures and head into their clash with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane at the weekend with the chance to go fifth.

McTominay told United’s website: “In terms of the team, I feel we’re much, much brighter.

“The signs are good, the signs are positive and we’ve talked about things that we can improve on and how we’re going to try to improve by the end of the season, which is the business end of the season as well.”

The 22-year-old believes there is a positive atmosphere in the dressing room and one which will enable them to move forward as a team.

He added: ”We always have meetings [to discuss formations and tactics], that’s normal. It’s a normal thing to have meetings and for everybody to discuss, that’s a normal thing and the sign of a healthy dressing room.

“Boys speaking among it in the changing room, saying what they think we can improve on and what are good ideas as well.

“There’s plenty going on, it’s not a place to be quiet and in your shell. It’s time for people to really step up and start doing their jobs as well.”

United have also been hampered by injuries so far this campaign, with a number of key players such as Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic all suffering periods on the sideline.

It is a problem McTominay thinks has not been considered enough when analysing the club’s previous dip in form.

He said: ”I think people forget that we have had a lot of injuries as well, and you can see with Anthony coming back what a difference he makes.

“I do think we’ve coped relatively well with a small squad and a lot of boys playing a lot of minutes in a short space of time.

”Everybody wants to play and that’s the sign of a healthy dressing room.“
