Boyata baffles Belgium fans as he accidentally wears Batshuayi’s shirt in first half vs Russia

BELGIUM defender Dedryck Boyata wore Michy Batshuayi’s jersey by mistake against Russia.

The centre-back started in the Euro 2020 qualifier wearing the No23 top – worn by Chelsea striker Batshuayi.

Boyata did have the correct shorts on, with the No4 printed on his left knee.

But he left fans baffled as he played in the wrong shirt, with Batshuayi’s name on his back.

One said: “Why is Boyata playing with jersey 23 Batshuayi?”

Another said: “Yo Boyata was wearing Batshuayi’s shirt.”

The defender eventually ditched the jersey for the second half, and put on the matching No4 shirt, with his name on the back this time.

Despite the kit confusion, Eden Hazard’s men were on scoring form in Saint Petersburg.

Ex-Chelsea star Hazard saw little brother Thorgan open the lead 19 minutes into the game hammering home inside the box.

His big brother and Belgium skipper Hazard then doubled the lead on the 33rd minute with his former Blues team-mate Romelu Lukaku playing a part in the goal.

The Real Madrid summer signing then linked up with another ex-Chelsea star, Kevin de Bruyne, to give Belgium a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Lukaku then got on the score sheet on 72 minutes, with De Bruyne again involved.

Spartak Moscow defender Georgi Dzhikiya pulled one back 10 minutes from time, but it was a comfortable night in Russia for Roberto Martinez’s side.
