And after crossing the line to clinch gold she blubbed: “I’m getting all emotional, I’m lost for words.
“This means a lot, I’m really happy. I have dreamt of this and now it’s real.
“Everyone said ‘You are the favourite.’ But you still have to go and do it and you have to perform. I was focused on that.”
The speedy Brit, 23, reckons this amazing triumph in Doha will propel her towards Olympic glory in Tokyo next year.
EYEING UP OLYMPIC GOLD
She added: “I’ll enjoy this one and use it as motivation to get into the big one next year.”
Asher-Smith beat American Brittany Brown by 0.34sec.
Just days after winning 100m silver in Doha, the Londoner brilliantly upgraded her status to gold with a blistering national record.
Asher-Smith is only the SEVENTH British woman in the 36 years of this competition to win a world outdoors title.
Her name will now take pride of place alongside javelin thrower Fatima Whitbread, long-distance runners Liz McColgan and Paula Radcliffe, 400m hurdler Sally Gunnell, 400m star Christine Ohuruogu and heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill.
This means a lot, I’m really happy. I have dreamt of this and now it’s real.

According to her neighbours in Orpington, Kent, her parents “bent backwards” to help her train into the world champion runner she has become.
She was cheered on in Qatar by mother Julie, a human resources manager, and dad Winston, a mechanical engineer.
Neighbours remember the efforts of the champion’s parents taking her “here there and everywhere” while she trained, running for Blackheath & Bromley Harriers.
Pensioner Ron Gadsby has lived nearby for over 40 years. He said he would always ask after the young athlete when he passed her parents in their small cul-de-saq.
SUPPORTIVE FAMILY
He said: “It’s wonderful, I am so glad for them. The family took her everywhere and really encouraged her.
“When I used to see her mum I would always ask how her daughter’s doing.
“They bent over backwards for her, taking her here there and everywhere.
“They always gave her great encouragement. They are lovely people, really nice people. She was a friendly girl growing up.
“I am so glad, it’s wonderful. Wait until I see her mum and dad. They’re wonderful people, very nice people and very kind with all the neighbours. I am glad that she’s got a gold.”
Local MP, Bob Neill, said the people of Orpington were “hugely proud” of the runner’s achievements.
He said: “Dina’s amazing success is not just a triumph for her personally, and for the UK athletics, but also for us here in Bromley.
“We are hugely proud of her, and she is a fantastic role model for young people in our borough.”
