Who is Man Utd starlet Tyler Fredricson?


MANCHESTER UNITED have handed youngster Tyler Fredricson his first-ever Premier League start against Wolves.

The Red Devils involved in a topsy-turvy Europa League quarter-final against Lyon which saw them go two goals up before being pegged back and falling two goals behind.

But Harry Maguire’s stoppage time strike in extra time helped Ruben Amorim’s men pull off a 7-6 aggregate win over the French giants.

And with the semi-final in mind, Ruben Amorim has decided to rotate, which involves throwing a young Fredricson into the mix.

But fans want to know what makes this kid so special.

Who is Tyler Fredricson?

Tyler Fredricson is an 20-year-old centre back with bags of talent.

He captained the Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League and was an unused substitute for the Premier League contest at Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Fredricson signed his pro deal in 2022 under Erik ten Hag, who included him in a Europa League matchday squad against Real Sociedad but never gave him his senior debut.

United won the FA Youth Cup in 2022 with an academy side that featured now first-teamers Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

Incredibly, Fredricson played a vital role in United’s run to the final but he fell ill on the day of the final so ended up missing out on the Old Trafford showpiece.

What other youngsters have been given a chance this season?

Harry Amass is another youngster who has broken through the ranks for United this season.

He was a regular for United’s Under-18s and Under-21s last season, and was an unused substitute for their Premier League matches against Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth in April 2024.

Amass was also named in the Reds’ squad for the FA Cup semi-final win against Coventry at Wembley Stadium.

apped by England at Under-17 level, he was heavily involved in United’s 2024 pre-season friendlies, starting all three matches of their US tour, where he assisted Amad’s goal during a 3-2 win over Real Betis in San Diego.

Amass got his first taste of Premier League action two days after his 18th birthday when, on 16 March, he replaced Alejandro Garnacho for the final 20 minutes of United’s 3-0 win at Leicester City.

What has been said?

Ayden Heaven is another to have impressed Amorim as he hinted at starting youngsters against Wolves.

The United gaffer said:  “I think it is not the best moment or the best season to put some kids to play, because, again, they need a strong base to really show what they can do.

“But in this moment we need to do it and sometimes you have surprises. 

“Ayden just played and I can be honest, we did it because we had injuries in that moment.

“But today, I think Ayden is my player so when he is ready and facing the competition in the team, he is ready to play. So you don’t know. 

“Amass did really well. Chido, when he played, he played quite well. It is a difficult moment, it is not the right moment for the kids to play, but if we have to do it then we will do it.”
