‘Better than what we have’ – Man Utd fans lose their minds over Wayne Rooney’s son Kai’s goal for academy team

MANCHESTER UNITED fans reckon 15-year-old Kai Rooney is better than most their current crop.

The eldest Rooney boy left fans in awe with his calm left-footed finish in United’s 5-1 defeat to Sociedad’s youth team on Friday.

Kai perfectly controlled a ball over the top, with his first touch setting him for a powerful dribbling run.

The teenager had his shirt pulled back his way through but stayed composed to continue running before rolling the ball past the keeper.

Despite the academy side’s defeat, fans were quick to praise the young striker’s goal and compare him to their current attacking flops in the first team.

Man Utd fans demand Wayne Rooney’s ‘English Messi’ son Kai, 14, given contract now after shock footage emerges

It comes days after dad Wayne travelled to Spain to watch second-eldest son Klay take on Spanish club UE Quart at Girona.

The 11-year-old also plays for United’s youth side.

Kai played against the son of Rooney’s old Premier League rival –  Cristhian Stuani, who played for Middlesbrough between 2015-17.

Wazza, sacked as manager of Plymouth Argyle in January, is United’s record goalscorer.

The 37-year-old found the net 253 times in 559 games for United, more than anyone else in the club’s history.
