Shocking moment Nigel Benn grabs Chris Eubank Jr by throat after boxer slaps Conor Benn in face with egg

NIGEL BENN saw red and grabbed Chris Eubank Jr by the throat after the IBO middleweight champion slapped his son with an EGG.

The angry scene occurred in Tuesday’s ill-tempered face-off that saw Eubank smash an egg across Conor Benn’s face.

Nigel was in the middle of the fracas and immediately grabbed Eubank by the neck as things got out of hand.

Security guards managed to calm proceedings by pulling both boxers apart, with a furious Benn Jr needing three burly bouncers to restrain him.

A video circulating on social media appeared to show Nigel walking behind the guards from his son’s side to confront Eubank.

Dad Nigel, 61, grabbed Eubank by the throat and remonstrated with him before the pair faded into the background.

Promoter Eddie Hearn summed up the general feeling around the incident by telling Sky Sports: “If you see Nigel Benn tonight, run!”

Eubank claimed the stunt was in reference to Benn’s failed drug test from 2022.

The first fight between the pair was called off after 28-year-old Benn’s positive sample for clomiphene.

The WBC infamously suggested his failed test could have been related to an intake of eggs.

The born rivals went face-to-face for the first time since their grudge match got rescheduled for April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank later wrote on X: “Eggcellent. Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests.”

Hearn even shoved Eubank’s promoter Ben Shalom during the chaos.

A shaken-up Hearn addressed reporters once tempers had cooled in North London.

But he added the fight would be “off” if Benn and Eubank ran into each other again tonight.

Hearn said: “What’s happened now is the game has changed.

“And if you do that, you have to live with the consequences of that.

“We have to put provisions in place – put a lid on it – to make sure this doesn’t get out of control.”

Earlier, Hearn and Eubank traded verbal barbs on a bad-tempered night in Manchester.

Benn Jr was subsequently cleared and the UK Anti-Doping Agency-imposed provisional suspension was lifted in October last year.

Nigel – who was nicknamed the Dark Destroyer during his heyday -endured a legendary rivalry with Eubank’s dad Chris Eubank Sr in the 90s.

Eubank Sr won their first fight and took Benn’s WBO middleweight title and the judges called a draw for their second bout.

A third fight between Benn and Eubank never materialised, leaving their feud as one of the most memorable chapters in British boxing history.
