Pep Guardiola confirmed that Manuel Akanji is set to undergo surgery following his half-time withdrawal against Real Madrid in midweek.

The Swiss defender is expected to be sidelined for “eight to ten weeks”.

Jack Grealish was also replaced prematurely against Los Blancos and while his injury is not as severe as Akanji’s, the England international is unlikely to feature against Newcastle this weekend.
