  • Suspension

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have both been suspended after their highly-anticipated bout.

The 58-year-old legend fought hard in his first professional fight since 2005 – but the man 31 years his junior was ultimately the winner.

Paul won via a unanimous decision and chose not to knock out Iron Mike in the latter stages of the contest as the veteran began to tire.

The influencer has claimed it was Tyson that pushed for the fight to be professionally sanctioned and go on their records.

However, as a result, the pair have now be suspended.

  • KSI labels the fight as ‘elderly abuse’

Jake Paul’s fierce rival KSI is in disbelief that the huge Netflix showdown was sanctioned to go ahead.

Mike Tyson looked every one his 58 years in the ring as he slumped to a unanimous decision loss while Paul, 27, appeared to be holding back.

KSI said: “What a sad watch,” he wrote on his Instagram story. “Whole thing was sad.

“Mike is twice the age of Jake Paul ffs. It was never ever gonna be close.

“I can’t believe that this elderly abuse was even sanctioned. Just disgusting.”

  • Family ties

Jake Paul has made his family proud tonight by beating Iron Mike Tyson – and here is a rundown of his family.

Jake is the son of Pamela Anne Stepnick and Gregory Allan Paul, and the brother of fellow famous face and social media star Logan Paul.

Greg is a licensed realtor and a commercial roofer. His work involves selling, buying and renting properties, as well as installing and maintaining roofs for various buildings.

It features content showcasing his family and personal experiences and has has almost 160k subscribers as of November 2024.

Pam initially worked as a nurse, but in the Paul family tradition she has also transitioned into an internet personality.

She launched her YouTube VolgMom channel in 2017, which has almost 700k subscribers.

  • Netflix’s technical difficulties

To make matters worse for viewers, many had problems watching the contest as Netflix’s live stream was hit by technical difficulties like buffering and sound issues.

One of the fight’s biggest critics was promoter Eddie Hearn.

He said: “I didn’t really watch it, I was in Katie Taylor’s changing room.

“I watched the first 30 seconds which were quite entertaining.

“After that it was horrible to watch. It was hard to watch and it was always going to be like that.

“Mike came out like a raging bull, but after that he was gassed.

“Mike’s a legend and he showed a load of heart, but you just don’t need to see it.”

  • Paul’s claim

Jake Paul claims he deliberately avoided knocking out Mike Tyson as their highly-anticipated bout failed to live up to the hype.

The 58-year-old boxing icon lost on points but went the full eight rounds against the influencer-turned-boxer 31 years his junior.

“There was a point where I was like he is not really engaging back.

“So I don’t know if he is tired. I can just tell his age was showing a little bit.

“I just have so much respect for him and that war thing between us after he slapped me, I wanted to be aggressive, take him down and knock him out.

“But that kind of went away as the rounds went on.

“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt.”

  • Mike Tyson’s updated net worth

Throughout his boxing career Mike Tyson is estimated to have accrued over $300million (£234million), but ended up losing it all.

Forbes claims his total career earnings could even have been as high as $685million (£535million).

And after the fight, that would have increased by a further $20m.

Like many sporting superstars, Tyson spent his money as quickly as he earned it on big expensive houses, flashy cars and even pet tigers.

  • Piers Morgan speaks out

Piers Morgan believes that Mike Tyson would have destroyed Jake Paul in 90 seconds during his prime.

Morgan said on X: “A 58yr-old Tyson went 8 rounds against a much fitter and very capable boxer half his age.

“Mock him all you like, but Mike’s got the heart of a lion, balls of steel, and will always be an absolute legend.”

  • A Problem for the Child

Paul claimed that he suffered an ankle injury just two weeks before the fight.

The Problem Child said: “Two days ago I sprained my ankle, completely tore the ligament, anterior ligament and like snapped the other side of my foot.

” Was on crutches for four or five days and it just hindered the end of my training camp.

“I don’t know how it didn’t get leaked or anything. I missed about two weeks of sparring and that’s why my cardio didn’t really feel so good tonight.”

  • Jake Paul acknowledges a legend

Despite Paul winning the fight, he knew that he came face to face with a legend.

The Problem Child bowed his head just before the fight came to an end.

  • Iron bite

Netflix commentators were left baffled following Mike Tyson’s constant biting of his glove.

But the boxing mogul explained the reason behind it.

“Oh, I have a habit of biting my gloves, yeah,” said the former heavyweight champion. “I have a biting fixation.”

Tyson was seemingly joking about his famous disqualification against Evander Holyfield in 1997. On that night, Tyson was DQed after biting his opponent’s ear.

“I’ve heard about that,” replied interviewer Ariel Helwani. “I don’t want to know more…”

  • Payday

Just a reminder that Mike Tyson has still walked away $20m richer despite suffering a defeat at the hands of Jake Paul.

Whereas, the Problem Child has left the building with an extra $40m in his bank account.

Not bad for taking a few punches to the head.

  • Hearn on Tyson vs Paul

Fair to say Eddie Hearn wasn’t a fan of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.

The Matchroom chief admits he didn’t watch the fight, choosing to celebrate with Katie Taylor instead.

“I didn’t really watch it, I was in Katie Taylor’s changing room. I watched the first 30 seconds which were quite entertaining. After that it was horrible to watch,” he said.

“It was hard to watch and it was always going to be like that… Mike came out like a raging bull, but after that he was gassed.

“Mike’s a legend and he showed a load of heart, but you just don’t need to see it.”

  • Sad sight

Boxing fans aren’t happy as Mike Tyson’s Boxrec page has been updated following his loss to Jake Paul.

His record now stands up 50-7. A loss to former Disney star and YouTuber Paul is something no boxing fan from the 1990s could’ve expected.

  • Jutta little more love

  • Paul on world title ambitions

He said: “It can happen in the next 24 months, I believe I can become a world champion within six years of learning how to throw a f***ing jab. It’ll be the greatest sports story ever.

“The cruiserweight division is pretty open.”

  • Paul on in-camp injury

“22 days ago I sprained my ankle,” Paul said.

“I snapped the other side of my foot and was on crutches for four or five days. It really hindered my training camp. It made everything more difficult to get in the ring.

“I missed two weeks of sparring, I only sparred one or two times, that’s why my cardio didn’t feel good in there.”

  • Paul on ‘carrying’ Tyson

On Andre Ward comments that Paul carried Tyson: “I did, a little bit. He wasn’t really engaging back, I could tell his age was showing and I have so much respect for him

“After he slapped me I wanted to knock him down and stuff but as the fight went on that feeling went away.”

  • Future opponents for Paul

Paul on Gervonta Davis: “Is there a height limit in boxing?”

Paul on McGregor: “He won’t do it. He’s scared. He’s not his own boss.”

  • Paul at the presser

“I’ve been in this sport for four years, I’ve been so active. If people want to see more then give me a couple more months. I’m going to accomplish more,” Jake says.

Nakisa, his manager, says: “This young man who has four years in the sport just fought the baddest man on the planet on Netflix.

“And he took it all in like it was nothing. Now he’s going to do everything he has to do to become world champion.”

  • Suspension for Paul & Tyson

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are both facing suspensions now that their huge Netflix fight is over.

Paul won their bout on points in what was an uninspiring contest in Texas.

The fight was a professional one and will go on both men’s records.

However, as a result, the pair could now be suspended.

This is because the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will order them to rest up.

Both Tyson and Paul will have to rest for at least seven days.

The rules mean that the fighters will also be told to stay out the ring for three days for each round fought.

This means they are set to both be suspended for 24 days.

The regulations state: “Medical disqualification of a contestant is for their own safety and may be made at the recommendation of the examining physician or TDLR [Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation].

“A contestant who disagrees with a medical disqualification, medical suspension or rest period set at the discretion of a ringside physician or a disqualification or suspension set by the department may request a hearing to show proof of fitness.”

  • The punch stats

Well these make for pretty grim reading.

Mike Tyson landed a grand total of 18 punches across his 16-minute contest with Jake Paul tonight.

    Paul landed 78.

  • Tyson vs Logan?

After the fight, Tyson brought up the idea of fighting Jake’s brother Logan next.

“I don’t know, it depends on the situation. I don’t think so, maybe his brother [Logan].”

Logan replied: ‘Mother I would kill you, Mike’.

    How lovely.

  • Bite of the century

You may have spotted Tyson chowing down on his gloves for most of the fight.

Well, he’s explained it away in the most matter-of-fact way possible following his loss to Jake Paul.

  • No-love Bud

Terence Crawford isn’t reading from the script.

He wrote: “I love Mike Tyson, but they giving him too much credit.

“He looked like trash, to train that long and only throw 97 punches the whole fight is crazy. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt out there.”
