Former England manager gets approval to renovate stunning £3.25m six-bed Grade I-listed mansion

GARETH SOUTHGATE has had plans approved for renovations on his £3.25million Yorkshire mansion.

The former England boss, 54, is taking time out from football after leaving his post earlier this year.

Southgate’s Swinsty Hall mansion is located in Timble, around 10 miles from Harrogate.

Having been built in 1575, the six-bedroom home is a Grade I listed property.

In addition to 4.5 acre gardens, it also possesses five bathrooms, a cinema room, wine cellar and library.

Southgate submitted a two-part application to North Yorkshire Council regarding upgrades to his property in mid-August.

As per The Northern Echo, they were approved on October 2.

The first part of Southgate’s application was centred around building a new water treatment plant.

Within the application it was highlighted that for the new treatment plant, a pine tree would have to make way.

The stone wall, meanwhile, will be dismantled and rebuilt in as accurate a fashion as possible – with each individual stone even being numbered in a bid to achieve an authentic rebuild.

With Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag coming under pressure, Southgate has been linked with the potential vacancy at Old Trafford.

This week he poured cold water on such a prospect, however, by claiming that he will remain out of the dugout for a further 12 months.

How would Southgate and Tuchel transform Man Utd flops and who is best for job?

In an appearance at the European Club Association general assembly in Athens, when he was asked about his next potential job, Southgate said: “Firstly I’m enjoying my life…so there’s no rush.

“I was 11 years committing myself fully to the FA and I’ve got lots of different experiences.

“But I won’t coach in the next year, for sure. I’m certain of that.

“I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time.”
