AN EMBARRASSING wardrobe malfunction added insult to injury in Wayne Rooney’s dismal first showing as Plymouth Argyle manager.
The Manchester United and England legend took charge of his first competitive game as the new Argyle boss on Sunday, seeing his side battered 4-0 by Sheffield Wednesday.
The shocking result wasn’t the only negative on the day though, as fans noticed a huge error with a few of the Plymouth players’ shirts.
Unbelievably, two Pilgrims stars had their names spelt INCORRECTLY on the back of their shirt.
Both Adam Forshaw and Ibrahim Cissoko had fallen victim to the awkward blunder.
Forshaw’s name had been spelt with an unnecessary letter E as “FORESHAW”, while Cissoko’s shirt was missing a letter.

The Dutch winger was wearing a shirt that read “ISSOKO”.
Fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing and took to social media to react to the gaffe.
One wrote: “Things were bound to go badly for Plymouth with two of the names on their players’ shirts spelled incorrectly. Their own players man.”
While another added: “Not only are Plymouth terrible, they’ve spelled Adam Forshaw’s name wrong on his shirt!”

A third quizzed: “Are my eyes deceiving me… Adam Forshaw’s shirt is spelt Foreshaw?”
A fourth joked: “‘Foreshaw” and ‘Issoko’ and the kit man still isn’t in the top five worst performances for today.
And a fifth fumed: “Who exactly is in charge of spelling and shirt printing?? Absolutely disgraceful… as well as the result!!!”
There was even more embarrassment on the pitch for Rooney’s Plymouth side too with a comical own-goal from Brendan Galloway putting Sheffield Wednesday two goals to the good.
Rooney wasn’t shying away from his team’s sub-par performance at full-time, admitting that the scoreline was deserved.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “The scoreline was deserved. From my point of view the really disappointing thing was the basics of the game, winning duels and stopping crosses.
“We conceded four goals from four crosses. The basics of the game were not there.
“The really disappointing thing for me is as a team we didn’t play with the confidence we’ve shown in the last few weeks.
“We didn’t take the ball well enough or handle the crowd early enough. We allowed them to get a foothold in the game, and we let it run out and conceded two more goals.
“I’m disappointed and angry, because that’s not the performance I wanted to see. We spoke about their threats from crosses.
“We spoke about Barry Bannan and we let him run the game and didn’t get close enough to him. That wasn’t acceptable.
“The players have to earn a right to play. You can lose football games, that happens, but there’s a way you want to see your players run, work and tackle.

“We’ve had a lot of fans come a long way, and the perfomance we’ve given wasn’t good enough.
“We have to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
