Immediately there looks to be an opportunity for gaffers to get the edge over Klinsmann with the German having selected Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario (£3m) between the sticks.
There’s no doubting Vicario’s ability, but it does seem unlikely that Gianluigi Donnarumma (£4m) will be dropped from Italy’s starting XI.
Klinsmann has opted for three at the back with Germany’s attacking full-back Maximilian Mittelstadt (£3.5m), Italy’s Alessandro Bastoni (£4m) and Spain’s Alejandro Grimaldo (£4.5m), who enjoyed a stunning campaign with Bayer Leverkusen (12 goals and 14 assists).
Age is clearly just a number for Klinsmann, who’s selected 38-year-old Luka Modric (£4m) and 32-year-old Christian Eriksen (£3m) in his midfield – although both are set-piece takers for their respective nations.
They’re joined by Spanish midfield maestro Rodri (£4m), and flanked by attacking German duo Jamal Musiala (£4.5m) and Florian Wirtz (£4.5m).
It’s not too difficult to see where the majority of Klinsmann’s budget has gone. He’s spent a lofty £15million on blockbuster strikers Harry Kane (£7.5m) and Kylian Mbappe (£7.5m), who could fire him to glory in Dream Team Euros.
