I dumped a bucket of cold water on David Moyes on the toilet – he still doesn’t know it was me, says Wayne Rooney

WAYNE ROONEY has revealed he poured a bucket of ice-cold water over David Moyes – when he was sat on the toilet.

The England legend came up through the ranks at Everton when Moyes was at the Goodison Park helm.

Moyes played a pivotal role in Roo’s development, handing him his first team debut in 2002 when he was a fresh-faced 16-year-old.

But that didn’t stop Rooney from soaking his manager in freezing cold water in an infamous training ground prank.

During an appearance on Sky Bet’s The Overlap, he said: “So, yeah, Moyesy has ran in off the training pitch.

“He must have desperately needed the toilet and has ran straight into the first-team dressing room, which was not far from where you run in.

“[He was] straight on the toilet and closed the door. And I knew what was happening, I could see them [his team-mates] all looking at me.

“I could see them filling the bucket up. They were like, ‘There you go.’ So I was like, ‘Pass it here.’

“So I’ve gone in the next cubicle and stood on the toilet and gone woosh (pretends to pour bucket).”

The notoriously fiery Moyes no doubt blew a gasket after getting soaked, although Rooney didn’t stick around to feel the Scot’s wrath.

Rooney would leave Everton in 2004 for Manchester United and sensationally claimed in his autobiography four years later that Moyes leaked his intention to leave Goodison.

Moyes sued Rooney for libel, prompting a full retraction and a public apology from the striker.

The pair have since repaired their once strained relationship, with Rooney admitting: “David Moyes was really good for me at Everton.

“He sued me after I left the club—I hammered him when I left because of how I felt at the time. I regret that.

“I spoke to him a few years after I left, I called him up and apologized because the older you get, you realize why he was doing things.

“It was new to him to have a player getting all those headlines, for him to figure out. He was a young manager at the time, it was new to him.

“When I look back, he was good for me, he was constantly on me.
