Classy ex-Chelsea hardman Diego Costa rescues 100 stricken residents from devastating Brazil floods with jetski and Jeep


DIEGO COSTA has helped save 100 people from flooding in Brazil with a jetski and a Jeep.

The former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid star is now playing in the country after joining Gremio in February.

Costa, 35, used his vehicles to help get people away from the flooded areas and rescue those who had become trapped.

The heavy flooding has affected the area of Rio Grande do Sul and claimed the lives of 83 people, according to CNN.

121,000 people have been displaced, as revealed by the region’s Civil Defence.

The hotheaded footballer was on his way home after a training session with Gremio when he came across people in need of help./

They were from Eldorado do Sul and Costa acted quickly and helped them to dry land.

Cadena SER reported that he also enlisted the help of friends who brought jetskis to help.

The report claims that they helped 100 people to safety.

A witness said: “What Diego did today, I had never seen before.

“He only arrived [at Gremio] a few months ago, but he left his truck in the water and took his jetski and those of his friends.”

Flooding and landslides have been caused by days of heavy rain as well as a rare combination of hot temperatures, humidity and strong winds.

Costa starred for Chelsea between 2014 and 2017 as he scored 59 goals in 120 appearances.

He left the Blues for Atletico Madrid for a second spell until 2020.

The striker then returned to Brazil as he signed for Atletico Mineiro in 2021.

Costa then made a shock return to the Premier League as he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 2022/23 season.
