Fans joke at least one Arsenal star has made Champions League semis after spotting referee is his doppelganger


FANS were happy to see at least one Arsenal star in the Champions League semis.

The Gunners were knocked out of the competition by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals earlier this month.

The Germans were back in action on Tuesday night in a glamour semi against Real Madrid at the Alianz Arena – with the Gunners left to focus on their domestic title bid.

But while the Arsenal squad are preparing for Bournemouth on Saturday morning, one star was seemingly in the thick of the action in Germany.

That’s with fans convinced referee for the night Clement Turpin is the doppelganger of Leandro Trossard.

One fan posted: “Leandro Trossard has made the #UCL semi-finals…”

While a further fan added: “This ref gotta be Trossard’s father.”

And the pair HAVE been seen in the same room – with Turpin officiating the Gunners’ last-16 clash against Porto.

The official has been a Fifa-listed referee since 2010 and has refereed the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The French official had a busy night, giving a penalty to each side in a thrilling 2-2 draw.
