Kobbie Mainoo was also withdrawn and Scott McTominay brought on in his place.
The midfielder is United’s third-highest scorer this season with ten goals, behind Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes.
He received a warm reception from the Old Trafford faithful after they made their feelings clear in response to Hojlund’s withdrawal.
Amad Diallo replaced the Dane and the change paid off as Antony struck 15 minutes later – his first Premier League goal of the season.
