Man Utd break unwanted record in diabolical first half against Liverpool as fans say Erik ten Hag ‘has to go’

MANCHESTER UNITED have broken an unwanted record during their match against Liverpool.

A poor first half performance in front of their own fans saw Erik ten Hag’s side fail to register a single shot at goal.

And the toothless display meant it was the first time the Red Devils failed to have a shot at goal in the first half of a game since April 2022 – also against Liverpool.

Incidentally, it was also the first time it had happened at Old Trafford since October 2015 against Manchester City.

In the meantime, Liverpool had managed 14 shots and subsequently led 1-0 at the break through a Luis Diaz goal when he capitalised on non-existent marking at a corner.

Taking to social media, fans fumed at Ten Hag’s lack of changes to try and change the flow of the game.

One fan said: “Most alarming Ten Hag did absolutely nothing to tactically change the tide of the game & just stood there. No ‘project’ or ‘bigger plan’ there. Has to go.”

A second said: “He’s breaking a bad record every game week.”

Another said: “How difficult is it to shoot a ball? How do you have 0 shots after 45 mins??”

A fourth added: “Wow thought this was an all time low at OT but they’ve been this bad more recently. Football heritage.”

A fifth said: “This brudda is clueless as hell man. Wrap it up.”

After the break Bruno Fernandes scored a screamer from the centre circle when he intercepted a pass from Jarrell Quansah to equalise – the first time Man Utd had scored outside of the box against the Reds since Wayne Rooney in 2005.

Who could be Man Utd’s next manager after Ten Hag?

Marcus Rashford also added to the team’s injury woes as he was subbed off through injury.
