ONE football pitch in Peru has gone viral after a video emerged of players battling through waist-high grass.
The pitch at the Tupac Amaru stadium in Sicuani, Cusco looked closer to a jungle than a football pitch in the widespread video.
Players of both Peruvian teams FC Cebollitas and Empresa Comunal de Macari were losing their balance just trying to run around the overgrown pitch.
Patches of shorter grass were dotted around the pitch, but the majority appeared to be thick weeds that presented obstacles for players to get around.
Remarkably the terrible playing surface didn’t stop the two teams from continuing to play.
And fans online couldn’t believe what they were seeing with the conditions blowing them away.

One fan wrote: “A stretcher would come in to look for an injured person and get lost in the forest!”
While another added: “This must be an April Fool’s joke!”
A third joked: “Do they water the field before the game to make it faster?”
And a fourth thought they had a clever solution to solve the problem on the cheap.

It’s not known what the final score was of the tie, but players would be lucky to find the ball under their feet never mind find the back of the net.
It’s not the first time that video has shown a foreign pitch such dire condition either with a seemingly unplayable surface in Spain going viral a few years ago during an immensely water-logged game.
