The new Harriers boss spent two decades as a player, making over 650 appearances for the likes of Hartlepool and Bolton Wanderers.

Brown, 64, transitioned into management after hanging up his boots in 1996.

He started at Derby County before having success at Hull City by leading them to the Premier League.

During the Tigers’ time in the top league, Brown had an infamous moment on the pitch.

While the team was 4-0 down to Manchester City at half-time at the Etihad Stadium, he gave his team talk in front of the travelling Hull supporters in 2008.

Jimmy Bullard poked fun at the moment in the following season as he and his teammates replicated the image after scoring an equaliser.

Brown left Hull in 2010 and went on to have spells at Preston North End, Southend and Swindon Town.

He also took a job in the Indian Super League as he managed Hyderabad FC for two years between 2018 and 2020.

His last job was a short spell at Barrow, who he kept in the EFL in 2022.

Upon getting the Harriers job, Brown said: “I was immediately drawn to the passion that the chairman and board of Kidderminster have for their club, and their desire to succeed.

“There’s no getting away from the fact we are in a battle, but the picture is clear in terms of what we want to try and achieve, and it’s a challenge I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into.”

Brown’s arrival has been hailed by club technical director as he can build on the work done by previous managers.

He said: “This is a significant appointment for us as a club and shows the Chairman and Club’s ambition.

“We needed to be clear about the club’s situation right now, but also the ambition for the future, and act accordingly to both. First is the next 18 games, and then we’ll reflect on where we are and what’s required going forward.

“Phil Brown is someone who has a proven track record of delivering against the odds when required.

“With the loyal support we have had from fans so far, through a tough time, performances and results will improve and we can get smiles on faces.
