Roy Keane’s savage five-word response to Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick goal… before backtracking on live TV


MICHEAL DAWSON has revealed Roy Keane’s savage response to Alejandro Garnacho’s wonder goal against Everton.

The pair were part of the punditry team on Sky Sports for the game and were discussing the outstanding overhead kick at half-time.

And despite most jaws on Merseyside dropping when the ball hit the back of the net, Keane made a tongue-in-cheek joke instead.

Garnacho channelled his inner Wayne Rooney when he leapt up and stunned the Goodison Park crowd with a bicycle kick that went straight into the top corner.

Keane said: “It’s very hard to talk about it because I’ve never done it myself!”

“I’m usually critical of goalkeepers, but I’ll let him off with this one, brilliant goal and a brilliant start from United. Brilliant goal.”

But he was quickly cut off by Dawson who joked that Keane had criticised Jordan Pickford for being unable to keep the ball out of his net.

The former Spurs star said: “You never said that straight away Roy! You said he should’ve saved it!”

But admitted that Keane was joking when he said it, adding: “He did say it in jest to be fair!”

The former Manchester United captain has garnered a reputation for his critical outlook on Premier League football at times.

But even he was left in awe of the spectacular goal from the 19-year-old Argentinian.

While fans have gushed about the outstanding moment and likened the youngster to Cristiano Ronaldo for both the finish and the celebration that followed.

Marcus Rashford added to Man Utd’s goal tally in the second half when he put the Red Devils 2-0 up from the penalty spot.

Anthony Martial tapped home a third 15 minutes from time to ensure an easy way home for Ten Hag’s troops.
