JOHN ROONEY showed that goals from the halfway line run in the family as he scored a screamer for Macclesfield.
Former Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney is his older brother.
John currently plays for the Silkmen in the seventh tier of English football.
He scored a sensational goal from 45 yards in a 1-1 draw versus Basford last night.
John put in a tackle in midfield and dribbled the ball towards the halfway line.
With most expecting him to pass, he looked up and saw the goalkeeper off his line and chipped him from 45 yards.

Wayne has a reputation for scoring similar goals from distance, netting in Man Utd colours against West Ham in 2014.
He did it against the Hammers again, firing it home from inside his own half when playing for Everton in 2017.
And with DC United, he netted from 60 yards against Orlando in 2019.
John’s goal left fans remembering those strikes, one said: “Followed in his brother’s footsteps and scored from the halfway line.”
