Remarkably it was Camara’s first goal in French football

German coach Adi Hutter has the south of France side sitting two points ahead of giants PSG – who are in third.

But Monaco were caught on their heels when Camara struck to take the lead for Metz just four minutes into the game.

Camara won the ball in his own half and immediately spotted keeper Philipp Kohn off his line.

The midfielder wasted no time before unleashing an unstoppable shot from just inside his team’s centre circle which flew over the head of Kohn.

The midfielder is seen as a great hope for the future of Senegalese football and has drawn comparisons with compatriot and Spurs midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, 21.

The two have followed a similar path in football, playing for Senegalese development academy Generation Foot before transferring to Ligue 1 side Metz, who have a partnership with the Dakar based organisation.

Spurs signed Sarr in 2021 and immediately loaned him back to Metz, before he broke into the first XI this season under Ange Postecoglou.

Camara is seen as a slightly more attacking player than Sarr, however.

Unfortunately for Camara and Metz, the Ligue 1 strugglers were unable to hold on against the league leaders.

Two goals from Aleksandr Golovin, 27, were enough to secure the win for Monaco as they remain top of the table.

Metz are in the Ligue 1 relegation zone in 16th, one point off safety behind Lens, who have started this season poorly despite achieving Champions league qualification last year.
