The full-back was booked as a result.

Mario Lemina and City goalkeeper Ederson then clashed on the pitch before being separated.

Several stars from both teams became embroiled in the row while Pep Guardiola, who had to sit in the stands after racking up three yellow cards this season, stormed off.

Nine yellow cards were handed out in total before the players left the pitch – including the ones from the game itself.

Tensions were high from the off at Molineux, with Matheus Nunes returning to his former home for the first time since forcing a summer transfer to Man City.

He received a hostile reception from his former admirers, with many booing him every time he was on the ball.

Some even went one step further by calling him a  ‘w****r’ and ‘c**t’.

The Portugal international was eventually substituted at half time, with Oscar Bobb replacing him in midfield.
