Here’s how the stats ended up at Old Trafford.

Clearly United dominated the shot count and possession.

But only one line really matters…

    United are shell-shocked.

The fans sit contemplating witnessing their team’s performance.

The TV cameras cut to a kid in tears, it’s all too much for him.

    IT’S ALL OVER.

    Crystal Palace are there.

    Chris Kavanagh calls time.

The Eagles hold on and Roy Hodgson cannot contain his excitement.

    More misery for Manchester United.

Boos and jeers from the Old Trafford crowd.

  • 90′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Into the final minute of injury time now.

  • 90′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

How has the ball stayed out?

Dalot crosses and it is deflected to the back post – it looks to be looping into the goal.

But Palace scramble it off the line before the ball falls beautifully for Garnacho to let fly – and he really catches it well and smashes it into Guehi, who blocks.

There are appeals for handball and a brief VAR check but no – a corner is given.

  • 90′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Four minutes of injury time at Old Trafford.

But it is Ayew pressing for a Palace second.

For some reason he shoots from a tight angle, with the ball deflecting off Maguire’s hand for a corner.

  • 88′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Harry Maguire is on!

And so is Donny van de Beek, making his first Premier League appearance since January.

    Lindelof and Varane go off.

Kitchen and sink come to mind.

    Or clutching and straws.

Eze gets replaced by Richards, too.

  • 86′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Hojlund… is this the moment?!

He spins in the area as the ball falls towards him but he just fell over and he fluffs his lines – no chance of that being a penalty.

Casemiro then doesn’t know what to do in the area as he clips the ball towards the back post – but it is neither a cross nor a shot and it drifts out of play.

Waste. Poor again from Casemiro who has not been good at all today.

  • 83′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

United pushing again but Palace are defending resolutely.

Can they hold on for another seven minutes plus injury time?

  • 81′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Silly foul from Casemiro.

He gets spun by Eze and bundles the England international to the ground.

The Brazilian avoids a second yellow but that was not a wise decision.

  • 80′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

That was Mount’s last involvement as he and Rashford are withdrawn and Eriksen and Martial come on for the last ten.

Amrabat then gets his name in the book as he wrestles a Palace forward to the ground and grabs the ball – giving away a free-kick in a dangerous area but Andersen’s header goes out for goal kick.

  • 78′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    Mount gets booked.

He lost control of the ball and overran it before sliding in and catching Andersen low but quite hard.

  • 75′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    United go close again.

This time the ball is cross in and Varane gets his head on it but it falls just wide of Johnstone’s post.

At the other end, Eze almost makes it 2-0 as he drives forward and tries to find the corner with the outside of his boot – he probably should have passed to Mateta.

  • 73′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    How has that stayed out?!

Garnacho gets to the byline and drills a low ball across.

It flicks off Andersen across the face of goal and then bounces off Mitchell’s foot but rolls just wide.

    Wow. What a moment.

  • 70′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Dalot gets down the right and whips in the cross from the right.

Mount meets it with his header but cannot redirect it on target and it flies over.

That was another good opportunity for the £65m former Chelsea man.

  • 67′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

United ride that little wave of momentum and are back on the attack again.

Garnacho does really well down the left and fizzes in a low cross that Johnstone beats out.

And then the ball falls to Casemiro who crashes an effort against the crossbar before play is stopped.

Big moment in this match but the Eagles survive.

  • 63′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Ooooh good hit and a good save.

Hughes lets fly first time with a crunching left-foot powerful drive.

Onana beats it down in front of him – he was taking no risks there.

Palace give away a free-kick but win the ball back and earn a corner, but glance a header wide of the far post through Schlupp.

  • 60′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    First change for United.

    Pellistri off.

    Garnacho on.

  • 58′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

    United want a penalty, here…

There are convinced there is a handball by Ward and Rashford is furious – immediately racing over to the ref.

Fernandes, Amrabat and others are also pleading.

The replays show Ward was not looking and had his hands by his side as the ball deflected off his hand and out for a corner.

    This will surely be checked…

    But no penalty! Corner.

  • 56′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

Pellistri does well to win possession and immediately feeds Hojlund.

Fernandes then lets fly and it is tipped over by Johnstone.

All United right now, it feels like a goal might be coming.

Johnstone then denies Hojlund’s header as he concedes another corner.

  • 51′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

End-to-end stuff – but nothing penetrating the penalty boxes.

Rashford and Fernandes try their luck but Andersen volleys the ball clear to safety.

Then a simple pass goes awry for United and rolls out for a throw.

United certainly look a bit more intent but with nothing to show for it just yet…,

  • 48′ Man Utd 0-1 Crystal Palace

A bit of a cagey start to this second half.

    Nothing to report just yet.

Second half underway then at Old Trafford.

What has Ten Hag said to try and motivate this Red Devils side?
