The Daily Mail claim that Lavia, 19, could be out until the end of October.

The report says that Lavia went over on his ankle during training and had a scan last Friday.

Chelsea are yet to confirm the extent of the midfielder’s injury, with clarity around the situation expected this week.

Lavia cost the Blues £58million and was one of many big-money signings made by the club in the last year.

The West London club signed the promising youngster by hijacking Liverpool’s move.

Lavia was one of the most wanted players during the summer transfer window following his breakout season at Southampton.

The Belgian only joined the Saints in 2022 after making a move away from Manchester City’s academy.

However, life at Stamford Bridge has not started in perfect fashion due to his injury problems.

He has now joined Mauricio Pochettino’s long list of injured stars which includes the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka and Reece James.

After an awful season last year, things are yet to improve at Chelsea.

The Blues have been beaten twice already, with only one league win coming against newly-promoted Luton Town.

With Lavia expected to be out for an extended period, Pochettino will have to rely on midfielders Conor Gallagher, Moises Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu.
