AFTER playing as a forward at the beginning of her football journey, Hannah Hampton switched to the position of goalkeeper when moving back to England.

Who is Chelsea and England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton?

Hannah Alice Hampton is a professional football player, who plays as a goalkeeper.

She was born on November 16, 2000, in Birmingham.

Hannah grew up in Studley, Warwickshire before emigrating to Spain with her family at the age of five.

During her time in Spain she was scouted for the Villarreal CF academy where she learned to play as a striker.

Her parents worked as teachers at the British School of Vila-real, where she studied while training for Villarreal.

In 2010 she moved back to England in 2010 to join Stoke City Centre of Excellence.

Hannah made the transition from forward to goalkeeper at Stoke.

What other teams has Hannah Hampton played for?

During her youth career Hannah was playing for Villarreal CF from 2005 to 2010 and Stoke City from 2010 to 2016.

In 2016 she was recruited by Birmingham City and she made her senior debut in a League Cup group game against Doncaster Belles for Birmingham.

After her debut she signed her first professional contract with the club on December 5, 2018.

In May 2019, Hannah was named the club’s Young Player of the Season at Birmingham’s end of season awards.

She made over 50 appearances for Birmingham before signing with Aston Villa in 2021.

On July 4, 2023 it was announced that Hannah had signed a three year contract with Chelsea, following the end of contract with Villa.

How long has Hannah Hampton played for England?

Hannah joined England’s youth squad in 2013 when she was only twelve years old.

She then played at the 2017 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship qualification.

In 2018 she was included in the under-19 squad and then continued to start at the 2019 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship.

After England’s game against Italy, she was named Player of the Match.

In September 2020, Hannah joined the senior England squad and played on October 12, 2021 for England’s 2023 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Northern Ireland and Latvia.

In July 2022, she won the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and in May 2023 it was announced that she will be playing for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia.
