DARWIN NUNEZ has made a kind gesture to Liverpool fans after changing his squad number.
The Reds ace has swapped his No27 for the No9 shirt ahead of the upcoming season.
The jersey was vacated by Roberto Firmino, who left the club following the expiry of his contract.
Firmino has since completed a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli which will see him earn a whopping £17million per season.
Nunez, 24, however will be hoping to follow in his footsteps and become an important player for the Reds next season.
And he has endeared himself to the club’s supporters after promising to “personally” reimburse those who bought a shirt with his old squad number on it – in an offer similar to one made by fellow South American Luiz Diaz.

A statement on Liverpool’s website read: “Fans who have already purchased new 2023-24 home and away jerseys printed with the name ‘Darwin’ and the number ‘27’ will be personally reimbursed by Nunez with a like-for-like exchange for a ‘Darwin 9’ shirt.”
The exchange will only apply to all “Darwin 27” 2023/24 home and away shirts of kits that have been bought from the club’s retail outlets and from the club’s online store.
The club have confirmed that any qualifying items must be returned with proof of purchase before 11.59pm on August 19.
The shirts and kit that are returned will be donated to the LFC Foundation.

Nunez’s Liverpool pal Diaz made the same offer to fans after he changed his shirt number from 23 to seven.
Nunez arrived at Anfield last summer after completing an £85million switch from Benfica.
His debut campaign in England did not quite go to plan as he was sent off in his home bow.
Nunez was not prolific but did manage to net 14 goals in all competitions in 40 appearances.
