BRIGHTON have made a strange change to their stadium name and their fans don’t seem happy about it.
The Seagulls have announced they are changing the name of their stadium from the ‘American Express Community Stadium’ to simply the ‘American Express Stadium’.
The subtle yet bizarre change has left fans upset and curious as to why they have dropped the word ‘community’ from the ground’s name.
Fans took to Twitter following the announcement to let their feelings be known.
One fan wrote: “Taking the ‘Community’ out of the clubs heart is not a wise decision.”
Whilst another asked: “Do we now hate the community?”

One more fan pointed out that it was out of character for the club to make the change.
They wrote: “Seems a very un-Brighton thing to do to drop community.”
The stadium’s name will officially change on August 1 – just days before the start of the new season.
The ground is affectionately nicknamed ‘The Amex’ by Brighton fans and has been their home since 2011.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side will play their first Premier League game in the newly named ground on August 12.
They host the league’s newest arrivals, Luton, on the first weekend of the new campaign.
The stadium will also have its first taste of European nights this season as Brighton embark on their Europa League journey.
