Man Utd make first move in £100m Harry Kane transfer but have Plan B if Daniel Levy digs heels in over Tottenham star

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made the first moves to sign Harry Kane this summer.

The Red Devils have been linked with the England captain over the last few months as they look to strengthen their attacking options for next season.

Kane, 29, has been in fine form this season despite Spurs’ struggles, scoring 24 goals in 32 Premier League matches.

He has proved to be the most important striker in the league, having contributed to 42 per cent of Spurs’ goal total in the league.

However, it is becoming increasingly likely that he will not sign a new contract at the North London club, according to The Telegraph.

The report also suggests that United are trying to establish the “best way” to make an “early move” for Kane having made him their Plan A option.

It comes after The Sun revealed earlier this month that United had made contact with Kane’s camp through a third party.

We also told how the Red Devils believe they will land him this summer.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is desperate to keep hold of the club’s talisman but with his contract running down it could be an impossible task.

Kane’s deal at Tottenham expires at the end of next season and he would be free to leave the club for nothing.

This is one of the reasons behind United’s haste to iron out a deal as they do not want to be involved in a saga that runs for the length of the window.

If that were to happen, the Old Trafford side would run the risk of missing out on other transfer targets such as Victor Osimhen, who is considered as a Plan B.

United have also been linked with the likes of Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, Lille’s Jonathan David and Borussia Monchengladbach ace Marcus Thuram in the past.

The report states that Ley’s asking price for Kane will be £100million for Premier League clubs.

Although, there is a suggestion for foreign clubs the price tag would only be £80m.

Kane has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich, but his preference is thought to be to stay in England.

Manager Erik ten Hag wants the club to sign two strikers this summer to bolster his attacking options.

Brighton’s breakout star Evan Ferguson is another target for the club, but the Dutch boss is also keen on signing a more experienced forward.
