Despite putting on a brave performance, Frank Lampard’s side could not contain the reigning European champions.

Madrid star Rodrygo netted twice to put the tie beyond them but it was McManaman’s commentary during one goal that caught the fans’ attention.

The Brazilian forward netted after being set up by Uruguayan star Federico Valverde.

But with the pair being South American, the former Liverpool ace had a slip of the tongue.

The phrase even started trending on Twitter.

And fans did not let the slip go as they insisted he needs “geography lessons”.

One fan tweeted: “Valverde assists, Rodrygo scores Steve Mcmanaman, ‘Made in South Africa’.”
