The youngsters raced into a two-goal lead through Mubama and Callum Marshall.

Mubama then made it three early in the second half before Dominic Ballard’s first-time finish seemed to get the Saints back in the game.

But the contest was soon over as Gideon Kodua, Mubama, Favour Fawunmi rounded off the scoring.

It was a stark contrast to the events at the London Stadium just 24 hours earlier.

While some went even as far as to suggest swapping the senior and youth teams around.

One fan declared: “Let’s swap all the first team for the U18’s they can’t do much worse.”

A second added: “Start all of them on Saturday.”

West Ham return to Premier League action as they travel to Fulham on Saturday.

Currently, the side is only out of the relegation zone on goal difference although they do have one game in hand on the clubs around them.

Despite the shocking form in the league, the club does still have a Europa Conference League quarter-final against Gent later this month.
