JOHN TERRY has revealed he is no longer looking to be a manager.
The former Chelsea and England captain spent three years as assistant manager at Aston Villa, where he retired from playing.
However, he left in 2021 and is now back with the Blues as a part time coaching consultant.
Terry said of his new job: “I love my role at the minute. I’ve got a bit of work where I’m working with the younger players.
“And I think as well, because I’ve been part of that process as a kid myself, I’m passing on a load of knowledge to them so I’m having conversations and stuff, which I love.
“But I enjoy my golf as well. So I want to play a bit of golf and family time as well.

“The reason I left Villa, I’ve not really said, but was a family reason.
“I had to kind of come back home and be with my family and stuff, just to kind of support them.”
And he added that one reason he no longer thinks a managerial role is for him is because he wouldn’t necessarily be good enough.
In a frank admission, Terry admitted that he found many of the coaches he worked with at Aston Villa to be better at it than him.

He said: “I always see myself as a coach in the long term.
“I enjoyed the coaching side of it but I have to say there were better coaches than me.
“We had Craig Shakespeare and Richard O’Kelly at Villa, they were better coaches than me.
“I always saw myself as a manager, but I went for a couple of jobs when I left [Villa], didn’t get those jobs and got a bit deflated with it.
“So I’ve just decided against it.”
However, Terry did leave the door open to taking the Chelsea job if they were to come to him with an offer.
