Chris Kamara shares hysterical Roy Keane story and how he brutally trolled the Man Utd legend in a LIFT

CHRIS KAMARA has shared a brilliant story of the time he brutally trolled Roy Keane.

The former Sky Sports reporter seized on an opportunity to poke fun at the Manchester United legend during a chance meeting in a London hotel.

The incident occurred many years ago when pundit Keane was in charge of Sunderland.

He was busy fighting relegation in the Premier League, giving Kamara the perfect material to make fun of the Irishman.

Recalling the story on The Peter Crouch Podcast, Kamara said: “He was manager of Sunderland, I was in the Marriott hotel in Kensington.

“We used to stay there doing Sky. So I get in the lift on the fourth floor down to the ground. Third floor it stops, Roy Keane walks in.

“Sunderland were struggling at the time so you know what it’s like with the lift, the lady goes ‘going down’ and I said ‘I think she’s talking to you Roy’.

“And to be fair he looked up and he didn’t give me the glare, I could see the glimmer of a smirk.”

Keane is notoriously difficult to amuse with former Prem referee Mark Clattenburg describing him as one of the worst players to officiate over.

However he did almost burst into laughter earlier this month after Graeme Souness predicted Liverpool to beat Manchester United.

Keane and Gary Neville both found Souness’ confidence amusing, though the Scot of course had the last laugh as the Reds smashed their rivals 7-0.

Former Celtic star Scott Brown recently revealed Keane is nothing like the hardman persona he portrayed on the pitch.

He said of the former Manchester United midfielder: “Look at Jamie Redknapp – the nicest man in football.

“And then you look at Roy Keane – probably a horrible man when he played.

“I never played against him but I can imagine he was horrible.

“Then you go and meet both and Jamie is a lovely man and so is Roy so there is no right way or wrong way.”
