Ben Thornley was giving his thoughts prior to the 3-0 win over Leicester yesterday when Neville intervened.

The former academy graduate was asked by host Stewart Gardner about Erik ten Hag’s decision to bench Raphael Varane for Victor Lindelof.

The Frenchman was seemingly given a rest with United’s Europa League clash versus Barcelona and Carabao Cup final with Newcastle looming.

Thornley was asked if it was the correct decision when he replied: “Forget the Barcelona game. Forget Sunday [versus Newcastle], this is equally as important because of the teams around us.”

Suddenly a shout was heard from behind the camera: “You’re not the manager, you don’t have to give a standard answer.”

To viewers’ surprise Neville then popped his head around and revealed that he was the heckler.

The MUTV duo then broke into hysterics.

Neville followed it up by doing an impression of Thornley and joked: “Sorry about that.”

The ex-winger responded: “I can’t wait to get my own back.”

Thornley played alongside Neville in the Man Utd youth teams before he made his first-team debut in 1994.

He was highly rated by boss Sir Alex Ferguson but he never reached his potential, having suffered a number of injuries.

Thornley went on to play for Huddersfield, Aberdeen and Blackpool.
