Chelsea post ‘tweet of the year’ after they are ‘unbelievably’ denied last-gasp penalty against West Ham for handball

CHELSEA hilariously posted a “tweet of the year” candidate after they were denied a late penalty against West Ham.

Graham Potter’s men drew 1-1 at the London Stadium on Saturday lunchtime as Joao Felix’s strike was cancelled out by Emerson Palmeiri.

But Blues fans were left furious in the 89th minute when a Conor Gallagher shot struck the hand of Soucek inside the penalty area.

The Chelsea players enthusiastically appealed to referee Craig Pawson who remained unmoved.

VAR swiftly looked at the incident before agreeing with the onfield decision.

The controversial moment left the West London outfit raging.

And Chelsea’s official Twitter account immediately vented their frustration with a brilliant post.

It read: “Soucek makes a great save from Conor Gallagher”.

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand then said: “I thought he more or less saved it. It was a great save.”

He then added: “What a save that is. I can’t believe that’s not been given, it’s unbelievable.”

Reacting to the Blues’ tweet, one person said: “Tweet of the year 😂😂😂😂”.

Another added: “ADMIN 😭😭😭😭😭”.

And a third replied: “How is that not handball 😂”.

The controversial decision came after West Ham were denied a late winner for offside on Declan Rice.

And earlier on this season the Hammers thought they had earned themselves a point at Stamford Bridge, only for Maxwel Cornet’s late strike to be ruled out for a soft foul by Jarrod Bowen.

The result leaves Chelsea ninth in the Premier League table, nine points adrift of the top four.

West Ham have moved up to 15th, two points clear of the relegation zone.
