MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Belgian starlet Arthur Vermeeren, it’s been claimed.
The 18-year-old midfielder has made serious waves at Royal Antwerp this season, so much so he’s caught the eye of a number of clubs.
High-flying Newcastle are one of the teams who have been monitoring the former Belgium Under-17 international.
But they could face competition for his services from United, according to the Daily Mail.
They claim the Red Devils have “posted their interest” in signing the teenager – who Antwerp have slapped a £20million price tag on.
Their scouts are said to have been following him closely and impressed by what they have seen.

Vermeeren turned 18 this week and marked his birthday by inking a new deal with Antwerp.
His new contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Shortly after the announcement of his new deal, he wrote on Instagram: “Here to stay.”
Antwerp boss Mark van Bommel has been thoroughly impressed by Vermeeren and reckons he deserves a call-up to the Belgium national team.

“He is doing well, he is playing top matches every week. His development is going well.
“Vermeeren at the Devils? This is a question for the new national coach.
“I think he would not be out of place. It could go quickly with him, but you shouldn’t put pressure on him.
“I’m not saying that he has to be taken back. But it can be done.
“So far, Arthur has adapted without problems at every stage.”
Antwerp skipper and former Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld has also been impressed by Vermeeren.
The defender said: “He arrived in the team by force of circumstance, but since then he has learned very quickly.
