‘Class A circus’ – PSG accuse Chelsea of wrecking Hakim Ziyech’s career after paperwork cock-up saw transfer scrapped

CHELSEA have been accused of wrecking Hakim Ziyech’s career amid the “shambolic” collapse of his loan move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The French giants launched a blistering attack on the Blues, blaming them for bungling documents after the Moroccan midfielder’s registration missed Tuesday’s 11pm transfer deadline by four minutes.

SunSport understands fuming Ziyech, 29, even called Chelsea’s billionaire US owner Todd Boehly to plead with him to sort out the mess. And PSG now have serious reservations about doing any future business with the London club.

PSG branded the paperwork cock-up a “Class A circus” and a club insider revealed: “The way Chelsea conducted themselves was shambolic and disrespectful. I can’t think of any other way to describe it.

“Now Hakim is going back to a club where he’s not wanted and probably hasn’t got a place.

“Chelsea have ruined six months of his career. It’s really poor behaviour, the club treated this transfer in a frivolous way.

“There is a sense of utter dismay about the way Chelsea did this.

“It’s unacceptable for a club of their stature but this seems to sum up their way of doing business at the moment.”

PSG insist Chelsea ignored their initial loan agreement email and a number of phone calls, responding 75 minutes later with an incorrect, unsigned document.

The Ligue Un champions also claim the Blues sent a SECOND incorrect, unsigned document before the correct version was finally received three minutes after the deadline.

Ziyech’s transfer was then registered at 11.04pm — four minutes after the cut-off point.

French League chiefs turned down PSG appeals to ratify it, ruling there had been an “unjustifiable delay” in sending the documents to them.

Chelsea dispute PSG’s version of events but admit “technical errors” delayed the paperwork.

The PSG insider added: “Hakim was in our office in Paris from noon on Tuesday, begging Boehly to explain the hold-up and sort it out. He was even ready to contribute to the deal to get released.

“This was Chelsea’s fault, pure and simple. It was unprofessional.”

The collapse of the Ziyech transfer came at the same time Chelsea were successfully completing their £106million British record signing of Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

Ziyech, who has played ten times in the Premier League this season, is now in limbo and set to be cut from the London club’s Champions League squad in the coming days to make way for some of their new signings.

Chelsea say Ziyech travelled to Paris ahead of the botched deal without permission but will not punish him.

Newcastle and Spurs were linked with Ziyech while Roma wanted to sign him before PSG made their late swoop.
