Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag plays down rumours of rift between Fernandes and Antony after pair’s fiery bust-up vs Palace


MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag has played down rumours of a rift between Bruno Fernandes and Antony.

The duo were involved in a fiery bust-up during the 1-1 draw versus Crystal Palace.

The two started going at each other for ten seconds in a X-rated rant after the Brazilian gave the ball away.

Speaking to Sky Sports before Man Utd’s clash with Arsenal, Ten Hag calmed rumours of a falling out between the two and he did not seem concerned at all.

The Dutchman said: “I think they are really okay.

“There is always emotion, so much is about brains, but also emotion too when the heart rules the head.

“Those two, and there are others when they bring that emotion to the game, it makes their performance better.

“Sometimes they cross the line with each other, but in the same minute, they are best friends again.”

Fernandes and Antony will aim to put their dispute behind them with both were named in the starting XI for the game versus Arsenal.

In recent matches versus Bournemouth and Manchester City, the 28-year-old started on the right-wing, where the £85million signing from Ajax was expected to play.

However, since he arrived at Old Trafford, Antony has had to battle with multiple injuries.

Prior to the spat, Fernandes praised the unity of the United squad.

The Portuguese international said: “[We] used to be individuals, now we are a team. You can see a proper team that works for each other.”
