Frank Lampard given dreaded vote of confidence by Everton owner Farhad Moshiri as fans urged to give boss time

FARHAD MOSHIRI has asked Everton fans to be patient with Frank Lampard despite their terrible start to the season.

Lampard’s side are 18th in the Premier League and winless in their last eight games in all competitions.

Moshiri spoke to TalkSport to plead with fans who are tired of the club’s poor form.

He said: “Sometimes, we just need to be patient. We drove out Roberto Martinez, Marco Silva, Ronald Koeman. They’re all good managers.

“I think a manager should be given time. He’s a hard-working, very good manager and we should support him.”

Lampard was appointed Everton boss in January 2022 and managed to keep the side in the league, but has failed to kick on this season.

The former Derby and Chelsea manager has received further praise from Moshiri during his interview.

He said: “Some of the decisions we’ve taken have been with the fans, all the managers who were driven out by the fans, not by me.

“I think you have to stay with the manager to get the systems going with the players he buys.

“I have a lot of faith in Frank. He is a thinking man and he’ll get it right.”

The spotlight is well and truly on Lampard, Moshiri and the board at Everton as fans have begun to vent their frustrations.

Goodison Park has developed a high-pressure atmosphere with fans making their opinions heard on a match-day and a protest planned for after their game against Southampton.

Moshiri has heavily invested in the future of the Merseyside club with a new £500million stadium under construction.

Everton face bottom of the table Saints on Saturday in what is a vital game in the ongoing relegation scrap.
