Man Utd trigger contract extensions for Rashford, Dalot, Shaw and Fred with Ten Hag calling them ‘the future’

MANCHESTER UNITED have triggered contract extensions for FOUR players, including Marcus Rashford.

Manager Erik ten Hag confirmed Rashford, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Fred have all been given an extension on their current deals.

He said: “Yes, I can confirm it

“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.

“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process.

“So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions.

“We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.”

Rashford, Shaw, Dalot and Fred were all also set to be out of contact at the end of the season.

And had they not agreed an extension, all four would have been free to speak to foreign clubs over a free transfer in January.

So United reacted by extending their deals by 12 months to give them time to address the future of all four.

United are also in talks with keeper David de Gea over a fresh deal, as the Spaniard enters the last six months on his current contract.

After reestablishing his form between the posts, Dutch manager Erik ten Hag is set to reward the stopper with a fresh deal.

But the club want to strike a new, shorter-term deal for the keeper.

Meanwhile Rashford has emerged as a transfer target for PSG, whose president Nasser Al-Khelaifi publicly revealed their interest.

United now face a challenge in persuading the England international to commit his future to the club long term.

If not, they risk losing the forward on a cut-price fee next summer – or as free agent in 18 months if he runs down his deal.

Rashford has found his form again under Ten Hag, with eight goals this season and earned himself a place in England’s World Cup squad.

He also scored three times in Qatar and returns to United with his manager desperate to keep hold of him.
