Newcastle fans mock Jack Grealish with hilarious new Miguel Almiron banner after Man City star’s snipe at midfielder

NEWCASTLE UNITED unfurled an hilarious banner mocking Jack Grealish before last night’s win over Chelsea.

The Magpies moved to within two points of the England star’s Manchester City in the Premier League as Joe Willock secured victory over the Blues.

That result left St. James’ Park rocking, but the atmosphere was ramped up before the game with a number of pre-match flag and banner displays.

However, it was the new one that featured both the in-form Paraguayan Almiron, 28, and Grealish that caught the eye.

It all started back in May during City’s title parade when Grealish took an unprovoked dig at the Newcastle ace while discussing how his side had come back from behind to beat Aston Villa to clinch the championship on the final day.

He said: “There were two secrets… number one, Riyad (Mahrez), taking him off the pitch, as soon as possible. He played like Almiron yesterday.”

The comment has backfired this term, with the Paraguayan having netted more Prem goals in October, with six, than Grealish has in his entire City career to date.

That took the tally of Almiron, who won the Premier League’s Player of the Month prize, to eight for the campaign.

Newcastle fans took the opportunity to poke fun at Grealish with a flag that featured both their man of the moment looking delighted and the ex-Villa attacker looking miserable.

And it also comically quoted Grealish saying: “Wish I could play like Almiron.”

Discussing the jibe last week, the 28-year-old Almiron said: “Nothing Jack Grealish has said has anything to do with this success.

“He’s a great player and I wish him well – but this is down solely to hard work.”

However, his team-mate Callum Wilson believes otherwise and reckons that it has “driven” Almiron this term.

Almiron was also awarded the Goal of the Month gong for his stunner against Fulham.
