He is an important member of Rúben Amorim’s team and the club is aware of his value.

As a result, they are planning to offer him a new contract amid interest from Spurs, report Record.

Ugarte, 21, is set to be offered new terms which could see him earn £100,000 a week.

The new contract will also see Ugarte’s release clause rise from £50million to £70m with Sporting refusing to let him leave for anything less.

Ugarte’s market value could increase even further if he impresses for Uruguay at the World Cup.

But Spurs are hoping to pinch him before that, with Antonio Conte said to be keen on the defensive midfielder.

The Italian got to view Ugarte’s talents first-hand when Sporting beat Spurs 2-0 last month.

PSG are also monitoring Ugarte’s situation and would likely have the funds to sign him.

Tottenham are also interested in signing Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin — who they only let go of last year.

The North London club surprisingly let him go and could pull off another shock by bidding to bring him back.

However, that may be part of an elaborate move to sign Dublin-born Cirkin and then sell him soon after to a rival.
