A non-league stadium announcer was forced to improvise singing the national anthem, after the club recording featured the wrong words.
Before Chesham United entertained Bracknell Town in the FA Cup second qualifying round, the players were asked to line-up around the centre circle to pay their respects to the late Queen by standing in silence to ‘God Save the King’.
However, with the crowning of King Charles III – the club only had a recording of the anthem with the word ‘Queen’ in it, which forced the quick-thinking tannoy announcer to perform it himself in front of bemused supporters.
Amusingly, as he belted it out over the speaker system he had to correct himself from singing ‘Queen’ – quickly correcting himself to say ‘King’.
The brilliant moment was shared on Twitter, where fans couldn’t help but applaud his maverick move.
One wrote: “He only had to do a quick search on Spotify or a similar site to get an instrumental version of the national anthem and he could have played that through the tannoy.”

Another commented: “He needed to da the da-da-da rise to make it perfect!”
While another added: “Loved that. Well done mate. Even had a waaayy heyyy at the start like someone had dropped a glass in a pub!!”
The sides played out a thrilling 2-2 draw after the anthem – with a last-minute goal forcing a replay.
After a goalless first half, the visitors took the lead in the 57th minute through a Jordan Espirit penalty.

With fifteen minutes to go, substitute Karl Oliyide levelled the scores.
And with 10 minutes to go, Oliyide thought he’d won it when he slotted him another penalty.
But Bracknell had other ideas – and George Knight scored a dramatic 98th minute equaliser.
Despite that amazing ending, the highlight was still the stadium announcer’s rousing rendition of ‘God Save the King’.
Maybe Bracknell can borrow him for the replay for an encore.
