And a short tenure with Yeovil, helping the Glovers reach the League One play-off final in 2007 before they were defeated by Blackpool.

Barry also spent his playing days at Chester and Wrexham, however, he left the Welsh side to join Fleetwood where he sensationally drove the Cod Army to earn back-to-back promotions in 2012, playing alongside Jamie Vardy.

However, Barry was hit hard with injuries in his mid twenties which pushed him to go into coaching back at Accrington Stanley.

But after rapidly rising through the coaching levels, the Englishman was appointed as part of the Chelsea backroom staff ahead of the 2020/21 season.

During Barry’s time at Chelsea, he has taken on part-time coaching roles in international football with Republic of Ireland and Belgium.

Which all lead to his huge opportunity of hoping to shine as the Blues interim boss.

When will Anthony Barry’s first game in charge of Chelsea be?

  • Anthony Barry’s first test will be a short trip across West London to Fulham.
  • Chelsea play Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, September 10.
  • The game is scheduled to kick off at 12:30pm and will be broadcasted live on BT Sport 1.
