ANTHONY JOSHUA and Tyson Fury’s highly-anticipated ‘Battle of Britain’ heavyweight bout could take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
On Monday, Fury sensationally called out Joshua – who recently suffered a second successive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk – offering him a shot at his WBC heavyweight title.
In a video on social media, he said: “Tyson Fury here. Aka the Gypsy King, the WBC heavyweight champion of the world – as you can tell.
“I think you’ve all heard that I’m going to be fighting soon – within the next few months.
“And I think that before I announce an opponent, that I need to do this just in case.
“Anthony Joshua, I know you just lost a fight to Usyk and you’re beltless at the moment.

“But I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight for the WBC heavy championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.
“You’re coming off a 12-round fight, so you’re match-fit, you’re ready.
“I’m giving you a few months’ notice. So if you’re interested, I’ll send you the date over and we can rumble.
“A Battle of Britain for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world.”

Joshua has since agreed to the fight, prompting Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn to open contract talks.
And with the bout seemingly set to be held in December, attention has now turned to the potential venue.
According to Hearn, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium is the only suitable UK venue to host the heavyweight clash.
He told TalkSPORT: “That time of year, you’d only really have one choice which is the Millennium Stadium.
“You’re leaving a huge amount of money behind to do the fight in the UK, but, guess what, these two also have a huge amount of money.”
Hearn added: “We’ve got our plan in place. We’ve known what the original plan was. Since he walked out of that ring after getting defeated by Usyk, until a day ago, we’ve been working on that plan to bring AJ back and move him towards the world heavyweight title.
“If this opportunity presents itself, fantastic. But we’ve got to keep the move going because I think this is an exciting time for AJ, especially if he gets a shot at Fury. I believe this fight will happen. Will it happen in December? I have my doubts, but we’re ready to talk.”
Fury has offered AJ a 40 per-cent split of what will be the biggest purse in the history of British boxing.
But, Joshua isn’t ranked by the WBC, so Fury will have to cherry-pick him, with special permission, to make the long-awaited domestic dust-up happen.
