Man Utd have only lost four times when winning at half-time as incredible stat emerges during Leicester clash

MANCHESTER UNITED made it three wins on the bounce with last night’s 1-0 win against Leicester.

And when Jadon Sancho put Erik ten Hag’s side ahead on 23 minutes, the result was never in doubt.

Man Utd have only ever lost four Premier League games that they were winning at half-time

That’s because United have only ever lost FOUR games in Premier League history when winning the game going in at half-time.

The incredible stat emerged during the game at the King Power.

The last time United lost a Prem game when winning at half-time was at that very ground, way back in 2014 under Louis van Gaal.

Goals from Robin van Persie and Angel Di Maria had seen the Red Devils go into the break 2-1 up.

But an incredible second half turnaround from the Foxes eight years ago saw them come from behind to run out 5-3 winners.

Only three times in the Prem era under Sir Alex Ferguson did the Red Devils throw away a game that they were winning at half-time.

The first of those was in November 2001 against old foes Arsenal.

A Paul Scholes goal had put United ahead, only for the Gunners to come back from 1-0 down at the break to win the game 3-1.

A goal from Freddie Ljungberg and a late Thierry Henry brace settled it that day.

It didn’t happen again for six years, but in December 2007 United went in at half-time against West Ham 1-0 up following Cristiano Ronaldo’s strike.

But the Hammers eventually won the game at Upton Park 2-1 thanks to goals from Anton Ferdinand and Matthew Upson.

And just over three years later, Chelsea did the same at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from David Luiz and Frank Lampard completed the Chelsea turnaround after Wayne Rooney had struck to put United ahead at the break.

All of those defeats came away from home, whereas at Old Trafford they are even better.

The Red Devils have not lost a home league game when leading at half-time for 39 years.

Ipswich Town managed to overturn a 1-0 deficit at half-time and beat the Red Devils on their own patch way back in 1984.
