FANS were left in disbelief after Southampton were not given a penalty against Manchester United – despite Scott McTominay seemingly handling the ball THREE times.
Referee Andy Madley waved away Saints’ calls for a penalty after the Scotsman defended against his international team-mate Che Adams.
The home crowd were convinced they should have had a penalty just after the hour mark as they chased an equaliser following Bruno Fernandes’ fine finish.
As Southampton striker Adams chested the ball down just inside the box, it appeared to hit McTominay’s left arm.
That caused it to deflect and seemingly hit his right arm, before it bounced up of Adams’ arm and looked like it hit McTominay AGAIN on the right arm.
Adams, as well as the entire Southampton team and 30,000 odd Southampton fans inside St. Mary’s, immediately screamed for a penalty.

But ref Madley remained unmoved.
And VAR too checked over the incident but decided not to intervene.
Fans were left fuming that the United midfielder was not penalised for what appeared to be a clear handball.
One wrote on social media: “McTominay handled that 3 times inside the box and still no handball given. What even is the point of VAR anymore?”

Another said: “How is that not handball on McTominay ? Incredible that VAR has let that go.”
A third joked: “The officials are right, there wasn’t a handball by McTominay during that play. There were three.”
While one said: “How the hell is that not a handball!!! McTominay turned into a volleyball player.”
Fortunately for McTominay, referee Madley saw it otherwise and United successfully held on to claim a narrow 1-0 win.
It’s the first time since February the Red Devils have won two games on the bounce and follows last Monday’s morale-boosting 2-1 victory over Liverpool.
