  • The table

The weekend of Premier League football comes to an end and Erik ten Hag gets his first Premier League win as Manchester United manager.

  • Klopp believes team should have won the game

A subdued Jurgen Klopp had his say on the match.

They were really aggressive in the beginning, it was clear what will happen.

They hit the post, then scored the goal, then we took over and played the game we wanted to play. We were unlucky with situations.

It was not perfect, we lost the game, and I think we were ready but not 100%. We have to take it and work with it. we have to make sure nobody else gets injured because we have no other options.

I’m not concerned about our situation. We can play better but had good moments, and from tomorrow we will fight again.

We should have won the game, I know that sounds ridiculous.

  • Robertson wants to see change

A deflated Andy Robertson spoke to Sky:

Obviously it was not great It’s definitely not the start to the season we wanted, it’s been really poor.

We give every team a goal start. You can’t keep on giving yourselves an uphill battle. We started slow again and that’s what we need to change.

We need to come together and address this as a team. It’s easy to talk about it, but we have to go and do it. Fulham, United, they started better than us, and you can even go back to last season, Wolves, real Madrid, Southampton. it needs to change.

We need to get our first win on the board, our first clean sheet, and get back to basics.

  • Match-winning Marcus reacts to ‘massive’ win

Marcus Rashford played a key part this evening, scoring United’s second goal which ended up being the winner.

Here’s what he had to say on the performance:

Regardless of the circumstances you’re in, a win over Liverpool is massive. We’ve not done so well, so the three points were massive.

The difference was energy. We started at a good tempo. We were tired towards the end, but they got a goal back and we didn’t fold.

On another day, I could have had a few more oals. For us to be able to switch, chop and change positions is massive.

  • Ten Hag hints at Ronaldo future

Ten Hag left out his captain Harry Maguire for today’s match, along with last season’s top-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

I have decisions to make. Once I will say I have a squad and we have to use the squad. We play 50 or 60 games, so game to game we will see what team we have to pick.

I don’t have to mention Harry Maguire and Ronaldo – amazing players and they will play a role in the future, and in the short future as well.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United boss

  • The boss continues…

The Red Devils manager stressed the importance of continuing this form and maintaining consistency.

I was happy with it [the performance], but they have to bring it every game. Not only one game. Of course, we are happy. I know the rivalry against Liverpool.

But don’t only bring it against Liverpool. Every Premier League game is difficult. It is heavy so we have to bring it every single game – this organisation and this intensity.

And it starts, once again, with spirit.

Erik ten Hag, Manchester United boss

  • Ten Hag’s F bomb

Erik ten Hag hilariously couldn’t resist swearing in his post-match interview when discussing his team’s performance:

We can talk about tactical, but it’s all about attitude. And now you see we bring attitude on the pitch. There was communication, there was fighting spirit.

And you can see what they can achieve because they can f***ing play football.

  • Keane praises ‘outstanding’ United

A brilliant team performance. That’s what the club needed, the players needed, the manager needed it.

To beat Liverpool 2-1 and deservedly so… okay it was a nervous last 10 minutes, but United, outstanding.

As a team, out of possession, in possession, showed great quality. Great night for the club.

Oh, what a finish we have here.
