CELTIC loan flop Shane Duffy has completed a surprise move to Fulham.
The Republic of Ireland international has rebuilt his career since his ill-fated loan spell with the Hoops in the 2020-21 season.
He scored in his first game back at Brighton’s Amex Stadium since his return, and would make 18 appearances in the Premier League in total for the Seagulls last season.
However his immediate future now lies elsewhere after the 30-year-old completed a loan move to Premier League new boys Fulham.
“I’m delighted. It’s a really exciting challenge for me and the Club, one I’m really looking forward to.”
Fulham chief Tony Khan added: “Shane Duffy is a player with extensive experience in international football and in the Premier League. We’re very pleased that Shane is joining us on loan for this season.
“He’s a formidable and talented defender, and we expect that he’ll be a great fit in Marco Silva’s squad. Come on Fulham!”
Duffy played 27 times for the Hoops while on loan, with 18 of those appearances coming in the league.
Last month, Duffy wished former teammate Aaron Mooy all the best as he departed Brighton for Celtic.
The midfielder, who played alongside Duffy for two seasons on the south coast, joined Celts on a two-year deal.
Meanwhile, former Celtic favourite Kieran Tierney has revealed how there’s no love lost between he and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta when it comes to their Old Firm connections.

The defender had to endure his gaffer’s blue-tinted overtures as Rangers made it all the way to the Europa League final last year.
But even after Gers suffered defeat in Seville to Eintracht Frankfurt, Tierney admitted he couldn’t properly get his own back on the boss.
In an interview with fellow Hoops hero Chris Sutton for the Daily Mail, Tierney was asked by the former striker if he and Arteta discuss their Old Firm backgrounds.
Tierney said: “All the time. He was hammering me last season because they were in the last-16 of the Europa League, then the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals.
“After the final he never said a word! He’s the boss so I can’t say too much to him! Don’t worry, the silence was deafening!”
