MOHAMED SALAH’S new contract at Liverpool has doubled his wages, making him one of the highest earning Premier League players.
The new deal, which was announced on Friday, ended months of speculation regarding the forward’s future, with his previous deal due to expire in the summer of 2023.
Mohamed Salah’s new contract makes him the Premier League’s joint-second highest earning player. Towards the end of last season there had been rumours of a potential departure from Anfield, with the winger linked with a move to Real Madrid.
However, Friday’s announcement was music to the ears of Liverpool fans who might have feared losing their two star wingers in the same summer, after Sadio Mane’s departure to Bayern Munich earlier in the window.
The Egyptian’s new contract now means he earns £180,000 per week more than the club’s next highest paid player, Virgil van Dijk.
His new £400,000 deal makes him the Premier League’s joint-second highest paid player.
